The Sylvie Dress is the latest fit and flare dress from Christine Haynes and is perfect for all occasions during spring and summertime
The Sylvie Dress features an unlined sleeveless bodice, with tiny darts under the bust, a stylish wide lined waistband, and back bodice darts to give the dress its flattering shape. Both the armholes and neckline are trimmed with bias-binding, and finished with an invisible zipper at the center back.
This sewing pattern features options for a gathered dirndl skirt that can be cut on the grain length or on the cross-grain to be used with a border print or for fabric with a finished selvedge. Alternatively make with the unlined pencil skirt version with fitted waist darts.
Options also include rectangular patch pockets which also can be cut on grain or on the bias like the waistband (shown here in the gingham fabric which is definitely our favourite), and add piping above and and below the waistband. The piping can be made with self-fabric or with a contrasting fabric - the choice is yours.
The best fabrics for the Sylvie Dress sewing patterns are lightweight woven fabrics such as light-weight cotton, cotton shirting, lawn, linen, chambray and seersucker. The sewing pattern is sized 0–18 and all sizes are included in the one pattern along with instruction booklet and printed tissue paper pattern. Because of the techniques involved, its rated for intermediate sewers.
