The Pattern Pages top tips when sewing a shirt dress

1. Ensure your buttons and button holes line up, nothing worse than completing your dress with absolute accuracy and realising they don't. Don't be afraid to not use the button placement guide, its entirely up to you where your buttons go!

2. If using a non-stretch fabric allow a generous seam allowance, you don't want to feel uncomfortable do you!

3. Don't be scared to go off course a little finish your garment with custom designs, add some pockets some interesting buttons, maybe a frill, some embroidery, whatever you are feeling.

4. Make sure you make it the right size as this sort of dress is not forgiving when your busting out the placket!

5. You can never press too much! Shirts always crinkle, such an annoying problem!
