TRANSCEND THE SEASONS
Between season dressing can be quite difficult and it’s hard to commit to the seasons trends upfront when there's chance of warmer days.
In the past few years the English weather has been very unpredictable – one minute it’s hot and sunny and you’re wearing a summer dress and the next, it’s damp and cold and you’re reaching for a raincoat! The high street wants to give us winter coats in the middle of summer and bikini’s in the early spring but by dressmaking you can solve the ‘what to wear’ dilemma by making your own essential garments to transcend the seasons.
TRANSCEND THE SEASON WITH 5 KEY PIECES
1. Casual comfort
The casual shirt is one of the key trends at the moment. Make this one from New Look 6232 (sizes 8-XL) and mix fabrics up with contrasting cuffs, collars and button placket. Wear by itself on warmer days or add additional layers for the cooler days.
2. Tailored on top
Not chiller enough to wear a coat, a tailored jacket is the stylish alternative. This one from My Image has been designed with several body shapes in mind and will give a superb fit for a wide range of sizes. Make in the latest tweed fabrics to give any high street designer’s jacket a run for their money!
