Week 1 - Basic Garment Construction

Week 1 is all about testing the contestants skills and understanding of basic garment construction

The sewers started off by creating bias cut and bound tops. It's a tricky thing to cut a striped or geometric fabric on the bias and some found it difficult to get a perfect fabric match!

Challenge 2 was to refashion a basic maternity dress into something beautiful. Many of the contestants chose to make skirts and a few ambitious dressmakers chose to create dresses and tops.

For the third and final challenge, the sewers had to create their own choice of skirt and fit it to a live model. Testing the sewers on fitting a pattern and ability to make it to fit someone else perfectly. There was some beautiful outcomes and Angeline deservedly won garment of the week!
