Christine Haynes has teamed up with popular US sewing magazine, Sew News to design four new PDF sewing patterns as part of their Sew With Me series
The Josie Sundress has a modern look with a square neckline both front and back and an empire waist seam. It's fitted with darts at the back and a series of darts that radiate from the centre as well as a centre box pleat making the dress slightly flared. It also features handy inseam pockets and a hem that sits just above the knee. This pattern's difficulty is rated at 'three spools' which is perfect for an intermediate sewer.
The Anya Skirt is inspired by the skirt worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1953 film, Roman Holiday. This circle skirt is both classic and timeless and features two side seams, a narrow waistband so will be quick and easy to make. Make with a bold fabric or plain for an easy to wear look. This pattern's difficulty is rated at 'two spools' which is perfect for a beginner sewer.
The Departure Shift is a classic shift dress is A-line and has a rounded neckline and bust darts. It features short set-in sleeves, in-seam pockets in the side seams, andan invisible zip at the back. This is another pattern that would suit beginner sewers.
We love the final pattern - the the East Side Tunic is a casual tunic for wearing with leggings or jeans. It features two top stitched pintucks that come from each shoulder to just above the bust. You can make with or without a flat Peter Pan collar or with a neckline that's finished with handmade bias binding. The tunic has short set-in sleeves, and side seam vents at the hem so the tunic is a loose fit that skims over the hips.
