“I feel so feminine in the Synthia pattern from Designer Stitch, it’s one of a kind. I’ve been looking for a pattern like this for a while and the fit is spectacular. I’m not a usual ruffle girl, but since this isn’t too much frill its just the perfect!”

“I'm thrilled with my two versions of the Synthia Blouse. The shell is so simple and easy to wear, and works for so many different fabrics. I can see myself making this in a basic chambray as well as a host of solids to boost my wardrobe. The ruffle addition is just a cherry on top; a really special and feminine detail when the need for a more dressed up option arises.”

I love the soft feminine flounce of the Synthia top. It’s well worth sewing just to learn this genius invisible zipper technique method. The included cup sizes took the guesswork out of any adjustments thankfully. I’m planning to wear this one with jeans and heels out for dinner, and I love that it’s also versatile enough to be worn with a skirt for a corporate look.”

“I used a grey chiffon fabric for my top, and absolutely love the light feel of the fabric. The ruffles are what attracted me to the pattern and Ann's drafting is the best.  This top goes great with skirts, jeans and shorts, and is a perfect addition to any wardrobe!”

“The Synthia top is a showstopper, and the key to this spectacular pattern is the fluid drape. It features a romantic ruffle of purely genius design, which circles the neckline and arm holes in graceful folds. The large floral fabric from Joann Fabrics and Crafts by Cape May is a polyester, spandex blend and drapes beautifully, and the colours are phenomenal. The bust darts offer a tailored shape to the bodice.”

“I've been calling Synthia my Valentine's Day top because it makes the perfect date night top. The ruffles are so fun and flirty, and I love that I can be dress it up or down. We're pretty casual here in the Seattle, so I like to wear it with jeans and some cute heels. This was a lovely pattern to work with, and the way the ruffles come together is pretty amazing.”

“The Synthia Blouse pattern is such a joy to sew and the end result in my opinion, are beautiful. I’m by no means a model, but the Synthia blouse does make me feel pretty!”

8. Katrina Dungley.jpg

“It’s a feminine and flattering pattern that can be dressed up for a special occasion, worn to work or in a casual environment. The two choices give different views and allow a garment that is a quick sew for one or a little more detailed for the other. Designer Stitch patterns are always well constructed and look great on!”

“I immediately fell in love with the Synthia blouse. The design has everything you could want from a top – it’s both feminine and flattering. The ruffle gives it such a romantic look. I used a white sheer crepe for a beautiful drape. I love this blouse in a plain colour best as it shows off the ruffles.”

“I used a polyester chiffon fabric and even though it was tricky to sew I think it was perfect for the style, and love the way the ruffles have turned out. I found this pattern worked straight away with no adjustments needed! This top can be worn lots of different ways.”

“I enjoyed making this blouse, not just because it was named after me, but because it’s such a feminine top that can be dressed up or down. I made in a chiffon fabric, which gives a soft floaty look. A lot of detail has gone into designing this blouse making it extra special.”

“I’m totally in love with the femininity and softness of this top. The construction of the flounce is just brilliant, and able to make the most beautiful top, which actually fits me. As a busy mum, I love that I can wear this and feel nice, it’s such a winner for me.”

“The Synthia top was a fun to make, quick to sew, and ends in gorgeous results. I decided to use a bright, funky print to make it fun and flirty but it would look so romantic in a more delicate print or a solid. I love that I can choose from two different lengths, and as it’s slightly fitted at the bust and comfortable at the waist. It’s a great top for everyday or can be dressed up for a special night out.”

"This blouse is feminine but also sophisticated with the clever ruffle. The pattern is easy to sew as it is to wear with the professionally put together pattern and instructions. The ruffle is skilfully constructed that you'll have a delightful ah-ha moment after you complete it. To add to the value of the pattern, a plain top version is included making this pattern a great wardrobe staple.”

“When I saw the drawings of the Synthia, I loved the simplicity of the blouse with the circle type of ruffle. I really like how it drapes down the arms, creating a very different look. It's romantic and flirty, floaty and fun. Since I love sewing with woven fabric, and this blouse can be dressed up or worn casual.”

“Really easy top with an ingenious construction for the ruffles”

“I’m so in love with my Synthia top. Ruffles are everywhere right now, and this top is perfect and right on trend. The construction of this top is genius, and I would have never thought to have sewn this top together like this. I think the Synthia top is one of my favourites from designer Stitch so far.  I will definitely be making more of these.”

“I like the soft lines of the Synthia pattern. Like many of Designer Stitch patterns, the pieces come together flawlessly. The ruffle attachment is a little tricky but once I put it over the dressform, it was easy to follow and pin in place. Having two length lines is perfect for tucking into a skirt or loose over jeans. I used a lightweight polyester and finished the seams with an over-edge stitch.”

“The Synthia ruffle top is such a beautiful and feminine pattern, and gave me the opportunity to try out some sewing techniques that were new to me. The construction of the ruffle, and how it attached to the bodice of the top, was really intriguing and know that I’ll use this pattern again!”

“I adore my Synthia top. It makes me feel like dancing in a park.”

“I used a poly fabric with a slight sheen. My grandmother passed about a year and a half ago, and this is one of her fabrics from her stash. I love the flounce that goes around the neckline and the arms, it’s genius how it goes together and looks way more complicated than it is. The relaxed fit is easy to wear and very comfortable.”

"The Synthia top is a must-sew for real women, it lays across your body as if it belongs there. It does require some knowledge on how to sew darts, insert an invisible zipper, managing lightweight drapey fabrics but I love how quick it was to sew, with or without the ruffle.”

23. Ana Inês Barros.jpg

“Synthia is a very light and flowy pattern, and is a must-have for any wardrobe. Every catwalk has tons and tons of ruffles but none like this. With this simple and easy to follow instructions anyone will be able to sew this fashionable blouse.”

24. Jenny Bowen.jpg

“I used a silky polyester that has a really nice drape to it, which works well on the ruffles on this blouse. I really liked the line drawing when it was first saw it but I was not prepared with how flattering this top would be when I put it on! Ann never ceases to amaze me with her keen sense of design and wonderful drafting.”

The pattern is beautifully drafted and the flounce design detail moves with you, and is flattering on almost any body shape. The Synthia is a great basic blouse with a twist. I used a double-sided viscose jacquard. I live in Singapore and find the most amazing fabric influenced by this region. The motif is a simple leaf design and the bright blue colour is typical of the Asian palette while the reverse is silver.  I’m sure whoever sews this pattern will find they have a great top that can be worn for many years to come.”
