Contrado love discovering new talent and working with emerging creatives

Contrado has stopped sending its waste fabric to landfills and invited independent artists to turn it into stunning clothing instead. Sideshoo is an emerging fashion designer from London, and she's the first to create inspiring and super-trendy garments from Contrado’s fabric waste, which challenge the way we view waste.

Sideshoo designed detailed outfits using free fabric offcuts from Contrado. Rather than wasting these fabric scraps, she has turned them into something quite beautiful. The garments she's created embrace the patchwork look and celebrate the fabric's past life. Now Contrado is calling all creatives to grab their free bags and turn waste into to wearable art!

Contrado is a print on demand company that supports, promotes and helps grow new and emerging artistic talent, and Sideshoo is an exciting new addition. When Contrado made the decision to stop sending waste to landfill, it was her who saw a creative opportunity to give these fabrics a second chance in life.

As the artist reveals: "There’s no right or wrong way to make a garment. Be imaginative, get out of your comfort zone and experiment with waste fabrics

Contrado is acting now to make a positive impact on our environment. They are on a mission to become 100 per cent sustainable and reduce the fabric landfill. They want to change people’s attitudes and perceptions towards waste and see its potential and are leading by example!

According to their founder, Chris Child, “Stopping landfill is a long game. Those who don't act will be called out, so why don’t we take the higher ground now? We will design sustainability into becoming an important element of all new garments projects and infrastructure.
We have to act on this.”

The company believes in supporting emerging creative talent, and offering remnants and offcuts in 5kg bags for free (you just need to pay postage or pick up if you are in London). The creative community has responded and Contrado has been amazed by the beautiful items they've created. The free fabric offcuts come from the company's range of almost 100 customised textiles, and rather than wasting these fabric scraps, designers and creatives have the opportunity to recycle them and create something wonderful.

Nice easy transaction. I was really impressed with the dispatch time and the quality of the product itself is fabulous. How ecological it is to offer!”
