Pheobe Flares from Pattern Union

Looking for a jumpsuit or pair of floaty trousers that’s a bit different from the rest then you’ll love the Phoebe Flares. You’ll feel like you’ve gone back to the ‘70s!

Phoebe Flares are an add-on to the Phoebe Collection, and can be made as flared trousers on their own or added on to any of the Phoebe tops to make a jumpsuit. The trousers include gathered side inserts placed flatteringly just below the wide point of the hips and include front pockets. The waistband can be applied to the Phoebe Flares or use the waistband from the Phoebe Freebie. This pdf pattern also has a handy envelope design to help you store the sewing pattern. Vaulion Trousers and Shorts from Opian

As the name suggests carrot trousers are shaped like a carrot, wide at the top and tapered toward the bottom!

Vaulion is a pdf sewing pattern that features high-waisted carrot trousers, with a centre seam on the front and back leg, and diagonal front pockets. Belt loops and patch pockets on the back can also be added as options. This sewing pattern is availbale in sizes 0-10 so you will need to check out the measurements on Opian’s size chart to get the right size for you.

Free-Range Slacks from Sew House Seven

This is definitely a trouser pattern that we will be making - it’s the perfect style for holidays and also looks so comfortable too!

Slacks are defined as trousers for casual wear. While we don’t hear that term much these days, we think it is time to embrace it again. The Free Range Slacks sewing pattern is as easy to wear as its name. You will feel free to roam in the comfort of a stylish, elastic high waist when you wear these trousers. Although they were designed with linen in mind, they are so comfortable that you’ll want to make them in a lots of different fabrics and wear them all year long in any season.     

There are two options - a tapered leg version and a straight, and cropped version. Both have an elastic high waist, side panels, front slash pockets that are topstiched in place from behind, and an optional back patch pockets. The tapered leg style looks great rolled up so the finished garment measurements show rolled and unrolled measurements and the instructions include options for French and flat-fell leg seams. This is an advanced beginner pattern and comes in sizes 00-20.

Jessa Trousers from Tilly and the Buttons

If you are a fan of styles from the past then how cool are this new trouser sewing pattern from Tilly and the Buttons with its 70’s retro-styling

Ultra cool with a seventies twist, the Jessa trousers or shorts feature wide, gently flared legs on the full-length trousers and turn-up hems on the shorts, which close with a concealed front zip fly.

The high waist, curved waistband and back darts will flatter your bottom, while the triangle tab fastening, deep patch pockets and faux pocket flap will have you swooning while you sew. Choose medium-weight woven fabrics such as denim, corduroy, cotton drill, linen and triple crepe. Stretch isn’t required but a small amount of elastane will make them extra comfy.
