Rome Capsule Collection from Closet Case

Inspired by a trip to Rome, Closet Case has created the brand’s first capsule collection

The Rome collection has been designed as a chic capsule wardrobe, and is filled with simple to make and gorgeous to wear pieces that pair effortlessly with one another. Each pattern has been thoughtfully designed with beginners in mind, and is filled with enough interesting design details and variations to entice more advanced sewers too.
The collection includes three versatile sewing patterns – Pietra Pants & Shorts, Fiore Skirt and Cielo Top & Dress. All of the new patterns can be made with a wide variety of fabrics such as crisp wovens like linen, chambray, light to medium weight cottons, and drapey fabrics like rayon challis, silk and tencel.

The Fiore Skirt is a chic, high-waisted A-line skirt with just the right amount of flare and volume. This is a beginner friendly pattern with lots of variations and this elevated basic has tons of outfit potential. Available in above or below the knee lengths, this skirt sewing pattern has three views. View A is a simple flared skirt with an invisible zipper at the back, while view B is an asymmetrical wrap skirt with single hip pocket, and view C buttons up the front with curved patch pockets.

The Pietra Pants & Shorts are the best of both worlds and include a flat front, high-waisted silhouette with the comfort of an elastic waist in the back. Featuring lengthening panels in the front with slanted hip pockets and a hidden waist stay, you’ll never want to take them off. Choose between four leg styles: a wide leg in floor-skimming or cropped length (View A), a slim and tapered leg (View B), or gently flared shorts (View C).

The Cielo Dress & Top is an easy, breezy take on a boxy tee and shift dress, and loaded with interesting details and interchangeable features – it will fast become a wardrobe building favourite.

Choose between a semi-cropped top with a cuffed short sleeve (View A) or dramatic gathered long sleeve (View B). Or, make an easy fitting dress with sleek inseam pockets (View C), or without pockets (View D). All views have a slightly dropped shoulder, angled shoulder yoke and roomy fit, with a choice between an elegant bias binding or faced neckline finish.

Vaulion Trousers and Shorts from Opian

As the name suggests carrot trousers are shaped like a carrot, wide at the top and tapered toward the bottom!

Vaulion is a pdf sewing pattern that features high-waisted carrot trousers, with a centre seam on the front and back leg, and diagonal front pockets. Belt loops and patch pockets on the back can also be added as options. This sewing pattern is availbale in sizes 0-10 so you will need to check out the measurements on Opian’s size chart to get the right size for you.

Hermosa Shorts from Itch to Stich

Hermosa means beautiful in Spanish, and these shorts are indeed beautiful but most importantly practical too!

The high-rise Hermosa Shorts sewing pattern is made for comfort and style, and has been designed for bottom-weight woven fabric with a touch of stretch. The front and back patch pockets are big enough for your phone and other essentials, and the wide contour waistband has an off-centre button closure or if you prefer there’s an options for zipper fly front and buttoned fly front. Back darts give extra shaping, and these shorts come in three lengths – short, medium and long. This sewing pattern is suited to intermediate sewers and comes in sizes 00-20.

Jessa Trousers from Tilly and the Buttons

If you are a fan of styles from the past then how cool are this new trouser sewing pattern from Tilly and the Buttons with its 70’s retro-styling

Ultra cool with a seventies twist, the Jessa trousers or shorts feature wide, gently flared legs on the full-length trousers and turn-up hems on the shorts, which close with a concealed front zip fly.

The high waist, curved waistband and back darts will flatter your bottom, while the triangle tab fastening, deep patch pockets and faux pocket flap will have you swooning while you sew. Choose medium-weight woven fabrics such as denim, corduroy, cotton drill, linen and triple crepe. Stretch isn’t required but a small amount of elastane will make them extra comfy.
