With its modern swing shape and length that hits mid-hip – the Cortland Trench from Grainline Studio is a modern update on the classic trench. It’s raglan sleeves give plenty of movement and room for layering. And the storm flaps and generous collar keep out inclement weather. This jacket has a double-breasted front closure and roomy welt pockets. The bound seams give your coat a professional finish, but will also help it stand up to wear-and-tear.

Sewing techniques involved include sewing a straight seam, welt pockets, Hong Kong seam finishing, topstitching, sewing a collar & collar stand, inserting buttonholes, and hand sewing. You can make in lightweight coating or medium weight fabrics such as cotton or tencel twill, gabardine and linen. Make sure your fabric has drape to allow the swing shape of the coat to hang properly. Grainline Studio recommends fabric weights between 5-8oz. he sewing pattern comes in sizes 0-18 and 14-30.
