Jessie Coatigan from Sew Over It

Sitting somewhere between a coat and a cardigan, the Jessie Coatigan is a warm, unlined jacket that’s ideal for those in-between seasons, autumn and spring, and dDepending on the fabric you choose, it can be worn as outerwear or a cosy top layer for wearing around the house

The Jessie Coatigan is an advanced beginner to intermediate level sewing pattern. The construction for the most part is fairly simple, but you should take the shawl collar step-by-step if you haven’t sewn one This coatigan is suitable for medium to heavy weight woven or knit fabrics with a good drape, such as melton wool, boiled wool and boucle. Try a smart melton wool for a 60s-inspired jacket, or a cosy knit for snuggling up at home.

The Jessie Coatigan comes in sizes 8-20 (UK) and has been designed to be slightly oversized so that you can wear a thick jumper underneath, but if you’re not planning to wear it over bulky layers, you may want to size down.

The Jessie Coatigan is available as a PDF download for £7.50 from Sew Over It
