Lena Horne Dress from Tabitha Sewer

This sewing pattern brand is a new one for us and yes, her name really is Tabitha Sewer!

The Lena Horne is a vintage-inspired dress with ruffled shoulder straps that comes in two lengths – just above the knee and midi length. The bodice is slightly fitted with side darts and princess seams. The ruffle straps criss-cross at the back and the skirt has a gathered waist and narrow hem. This dress is perfect for brunch, daytime shopping, and/or an afternoon date. It’s made with the warmer weather in mind, however during autumn and winter, it can easily be worn over turtlenecks and fitted long sleeve T-shirts.

The dress also includes an invisible side zipper, and as always the best part, it has pockets! it comes in a good range of sizes from 0-24. Choose light and medium weight woven fabrics such as broadcloth. cotton sateen, cotton twill, chambray, and linen or crisp lightweight fabrics such as cotton and linen can also be used for a warm-weather pinafore. Drapier fabrics such as tencel twill, wool crepe, rayon crepe, or viscose poplin work well if you prefer a softer, less structured look.
