This is the second sewing pattern from Dovetailed. Owner and designer Adaku Parker has set about creating a range of sewing patterns specifically designed for sewing with African wax prints which if you are like us you love!
This simple top features box pleats at the front and back neckline, and the neckline, sleeves and hem are finished with bias binding to give a really professional finish. Bias binding adds a wonderful trim to garments! It’s an easy sew with only two pattern pieces. The instruction booklet gives step-by-step details on how to make up the bias binding using the fabric you’ve chosen to make your pattern in. or why not add an extra pop of colour, and make up your bias binding in a contrasting fabric.
This pattern has been crated for beginners and whether you are new to sewing, or new to African wax prints or both, you’ll enjoy making it! For more experienced sewers, you’ll be able to complete this project in about an hour or so. Pattern matching can be tricky when sewing with wax prints, however, with only two pattern pieces, pattern matching is a breeze! This top has no zips or fastenings, and includes lengthening and shortening lines allowing you to adjust the finished hem to the length that you prefer to wear. Pattern sizes include 8-26.
