A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US here AT THE PATTERN PAGES
Hello, we are mother & daughter team, Julie & Emily Bonnar from The Pattern Pages
Who are we & what do we do?
"I've worked in the publishing side of the craft industry for more than 12 years on magazines including Sewing World magazine, Making Jewellery and most recently as editor on the UK's leading trade publication Craft Focus. I originally trained as an interior designer but found that I actually liked making my own clothes more than I did making curtains!"
"Early 2016 I joined mum to help her keep the website going, little did I know that I actually enjoyed sewing and writing - two things I never thought I'd get into. Here we are two years later, with 4 issues of our fab digital dressmaking magazine under our belt, who knew this was going to turn into a career choice for me. Now a graduate of Fashion Styling and Creative Direction, I'm hooked on making The Pattern Pages the ultimate place for dressmakers and sewers to go who love fashion and dressmaking as much as I do!"
we're on a mission...
Things have changed in the sewing industry over the last few years. Today, there's so many exciting new independent pattern companies, dressmaking bloggers out there as well as the major commercial companies, but there's no longer a magazine dedicated solely to dressmaking, so in 2017, we decided to create The Pattern Pages digital magazine.
We aim to keep you posted with all the latest sewing pattern news and where to buy them. Plus the fashion trends for the seasons and how to replicate them in your sewing. We also have lots of sewing tips and advice to help you make your own clothes look the best they can.
the story of vip dressmaker
"The Pattern Pages website started off as a hobby for us but last year, we decided to take the plunge and produce our own digital dressmaking magazine for you. It was scary but we realised that there was gap in the market for a fashion-led magazine for dressmakers and sewers who loved fashion and wanted their sewing hobby to relate to high street fashion like us, and also who were interested in the fabric and pattern designers beind the patterns that we've all grown to love," says Emily Bonnar, part of the mother & daughter team behind The Pattern Pages.
"We've had incredible feedback from those in the sewing industry, and we couldn't have made it the success it has been without the thousands of dressmakers and sewers that have taken the time to download, read and enjoy the issues so far so it's a HUGE thank you to everyone! Issues 1 to 4 will remain free to download but we have had to make a hard decision. We don't have a big publisher behind us and in order to continue to produce The Pattern Pages, we're now offering subsequent issues as part of our new VIP dressmaker club," explains Julie Bonnar, part of the mother & daughter team behind The Pattern Pages.
