Be spring ready with Simplicity's latest patterns

Here's a look at Simplicity's latest sewing patterns from its new spring catalogue



Like many of you, we love Cythnia Rowley’s designs for Simplicity patterns – they are always so elegant and stylish.
Simplicity 8599 is a gorgeous off-the-shoulder dress with bell sleeves and looks fantastic made in a floral lace with grosgrain ribbon waistband. This dress is perfect for attending special occasions such as weddings, birthday bashes and anniversary parties.


This year, prom styles are all about mix and match layer-able tops and skirts. Simplicity 8597 includes a wonderful collection of skirt patterns in sizes 8-26W. There are some great silhouettes to choose from including fishtail with option train, mermaid with back flounce. All the skirts feature flattering princess seams and the option to glam up further with pretty embellishments and luxurious fabrics.

Top this with Simplicity 8598 featuring tops and corsets sized for 8-26W and includes a crop top with sheer or open back versions, corsets with front slit, spaghetti strap or peplum with boning plus an off-the-shoulder ruffle that can be  worn as an overlay.


A new catalogue from Simplicity wouldn’t be complete without some iconic styling from the past.
Simplicity 8593 is a ’40s simple-to-make poncho blouse and sized for small, medium and large. It fastens at the front and back waistline with tie ends, so if folds out flat for ironing (which is a bonus). Features that you are going to like include gathers at the neck edge and extended shoulders, rolled collar, bias bound neck edge finished with a bow, lace-trimmed tie collar, slashed neckline and a front peplum.
Simplicity 8592 is a beautiful dress from around ’50s and features a flattering sleeveless dress with empire lines. Styled for Misses and Women, the bodice includes soft
pleats at the bust line, darts in back and optional pockets, which are concealed in the side seams of the gored skirt. Shoulder bows and front and bound armhole edges can
be added too.
Simplicity 8591 comes from the ’60s and is a simple-to-make dress for Misses and Petites. It features a lowered neckline, back zipper, full gathered skirt, and self fabric belt. Make collarless and have above-elbow-length set-in sleeves with a self fabric ruffle at the lower edge, or with a self fabric skirt trim or add sleeves have heavy lace trim.


Simplicity 8606 includes a wrap and tie skirt in four fab lengths - mini, knee, midi and maxi making it a very useful pattern to fill your spring wardrobe. Sew it with or without a ruffle. It’s would also be great as a beach cover up and versatile for holiday day-to-evening looks.

Simplicity 8594 consists of sweet dresses for Misses and Petites with bodice and skirt options. The bodice styles include a crew neck with slit or halter, and the skirt can be made straight or flared with pockets to suit your body shape.

Simplicity 8609 includes a two-piece look, which can be transformed from day to night with the perfect fabric. The knit tops comes in a variety of styles with stylish crossover at the hemline and goes perfectly with the pleated skirt that has an optional high-low hem and tie belt.


Chanel-style jackets are definitely back this season and Simplicity 8604 from the Threads magazine collection is a beautiful example. The pattern features different pattern pieces for cup sizes and fit for petites too so getting the best fit with this pattern won’t be a problem. The jackets in this pattern feature collarless designs with optional button closure, plus length and sleeve options.

Simplicity 8602 shell top allows you to create the ideal any day top in two different lengths, and features sleeve options of pleated, ruffle with trim, cold-shoulder or side-slit. Separate pattern pieces are also included for B, C, D and DD cup sizes.

Simplicity 8601 is an easy-to-sew pullover tops featuring stylish tie waist and great selection of sleeve choices. Just add a trendy trim to the sleeves to make it your own.

Simplicity 8600 is a series of festival-inspired tops where you can add your won creative touches. Soft, feminine, and comfortable, the tops are available in three lengths with sleeveless, long, or cropped flare sleeve. Perfect for pairing with border fabrics, ric rac, pom-pom, tassels, or appliqués.


Simplicity 8605 is a pattern right on trend for one of the styles of season – paperbag waist trousers. The easy-to-sew high paper bag waist wide leg trousers (pattern also includes skirts) come in sizes xs to xl and feature pull-on design with pockets and tie belt.

Fill your spring wardrobe with Simplicity 8608’s pretty playsuit, jumpsuit and dress pattern. The jumpsuit has flutter sleeve, short playsuit has long sleeves and ruffle detail at the hem, while the wrap dress can be made with or without ruffles and choice of sleeve style. All views include tie belts.


You can never have too many easy-to-wear dresses in your closet – they can take you from day to night and are a holiday must-have.

Simplicity 8612 is a pattern pack of easy-to-sew wrap skirts in sizes 18W - 34W, which have been designed Ashley Nell Tipton (winner of Project Runway 2015). The skirts can be made in mini, knee and mid-calf lengths. Create a raw edge ruffle or add trim to elevate the look.
